Brief Biography
I am an Assistant Professor of Business in the School of Business and Leadership at DePauw University.
Before joining the School of Business and Leadership at DePauw University, I was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Economics at Georgia State University (GSU).
Being a professor of business and economics is one of my passions!
As an Assistant Professor of Business at DePauw University, I play a pivotal role in influencing the school's trajectory and guiding undergraduate students' research and career choices. Concurrently, I engage in dynamic research within computational social science, social justice, deep fakes, and the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and marketing.
As a clinical assistant professor at GSU, I developed an open education resource (OER) course for the Principles of Microeconomics undergraduate course alongside three GSU colleagues. A significant contribution of this collaboration to the field of economic education is the highly iterative assessment tools we created. We offer these tools for no monetary cost at http://econreimagined.gsu.edu.
My current research focuses on the impact of price, income, and externalities on healthcare providers' incentives and patient behaviors. My research also includes the pricing effects on antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance and the impact of the 2009 global financial crisis on the dual bottom-line goals of micro-finance institutions.
In 2018, I was chosen from among my peers as the first young adult in the world to serve as an ex-officio member of the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN DPI) Executive Committee.
I am dedicated to working with my students as they develop a complete understanding of the material we discuss throughout each course.
Some important quotes that I live by:
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Be kind to yourself.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"
